Makrofol® DP 1243 is the name of a new light-diffusing film made from the polycarbonate Makrolon®. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it diffuses light even more strongly and homogeneously than the PMMA films that represent the benchmark in this field. It is also more translucent, making it more effective. Users benefit from the established strengths of polycarbonate, such as good heat resistance and toughness. Unlike PMMA, PC film is not brittle and it therefore enables much better punching. Potential applications include dials and LCD displays. The film is particularly suitable for displays with LEDs as the light source because its excellent translucency enables less powerful and thus less expensive LEDs to be used. The film is available in rolls or sheets, in thicknesses of 0.3 and 0.5 millimeters.
