The EU drivers license was introduced in Germany on January 1, 1999 and drivers who have had one from the very start know how strong and durable it is in day-to-day use. It is made from a special multilayer structure based on Makrofol® ID polycarbonate films. The document has a large number of security features. Thanks to laser engraving technology, all the holder’s particulars, including a passport-sized photo, can be entered quickly, precisely and indelibly on the front and back of the license, making it virtually impossible to counterfeit. Combinations of numbers and letters indicate the restrictions and requirements applying to drivers. Thanks to the excellent stiffness and toughness of Makrofol® ID, the document has a virtually unlimited lifespan.
