Part design:
A new patient's terminal - a call and
communication system for hospitals, clinics, old people's
homes etc. - not only has a number of new functions, it also has a
new kind of housing.
In addition to its main
function of calling for assistance, the options for phone, radio
and TV, the controls for lights and window blinds, and the billing
system are all integrated via a contactless chip
card.
The upper section of the operating
panel was developed in cooperation with the two firms, Ackermann
and Heyco. To meet hygiene requirements, a closed surface was
chosen, and the IMD process (In-Mold Decoration) was used. The
Bayfol® CR 6-2 film was subjected to a multi-color printing
process and, because of the necessary positioning accuracy, was
thermoformed by the HPF process (High Pressure Forming), punched
and then insert-molded with ABS.
All the main
functions like the membrane key blocks, the display and the
backlit LCD with its touch screen are integrated in the film. The
major advantages of the closed surface with the Bayfol® film are:
| > | chemical resistance, particularly to liquid |
| > | disinfectants |
| > | ergonomic form and color design |
| > | scratch resistance |
| > | resistance to liquids (IP 67) |
| > | backlighting in night design |
