Makrofol® 3D Metallic FG, our new chrome-effect polycarbonate film, lends three-dimensional components an impressive metallic gloss. It is the first formable film of its kind and can be cold-formed without losing its gloss using the high-pressure forming (HPF) process. It offers an alternative to the traditional screen-printed mirror finish for films, and to the labor- and cost-intensive electroplating of plastic moldings. It is also ideal for FIM processes as it can be overmolded, back-injected and printed on both sides with excellent graphic quality.

The new film does not shield against electromagnetic radiation. Its translucency makes it the material of choice for components produced using backlit technology. The metallic look can also be given special translucent and transparent color effects using the Aura color infusion method. The film has great potential for use in car interiors, for example in panels, logos and insignia. It is also ideal for decorative trim and instrument dials for dashboards. The film is available in thicknesses of 180 and 325 micrometers.
