Keypads made from Bayfol® CR 1-4 are making a big impression in cell phones from Sagem Communications. The film, which is based on a PC/polyester blend and slightly matte on one side, is particularly resistant to bending and is easy to form and punch. The film also exhibits good resistance to chemicals. It can be printed in brilliant colors with PC-compatible inks using screen and offset printing. The backlit keypads are produced using the FIM process. The transparent film is printed with various colors and symbols, then formed, and a transparent thermoplastic is back-injected. This ensures printing is protected from external influences and mechanical damage. As a result, the colors retain their brilliance for a long time.
