International Material Data System (IMDS)
]
| |
The IMDS is the material data system for the
automotive industry. It is a joint development by Audi, BMW,
DaimlerChrysler, Ford, Opel, Porsche, VW and the Swedish firm
Volvo. Other car manufacturers have since joined the group.
In the IMDS, all the materials/parts used in vehicle
manufacture are archived and managed. This is nowadays the only
way to comply with the obligations placed on car manufacturers –
and thus also on automotive suppliers – by national and
international standards, laws and regulations, for example E.U.
Directive 2000/53/EC on the recycling of end-of-life vehicles.
As one of the leading manufacturers of thermoplastics
for the automotive industry, Bayer MaterialScience, with the
agreement of the automotive industry, is allowed to enter its data
sheets into the IMDS database system.
The Bayer MaterialScience company
ID is: 2469
Our material data
sheets are not published in the IMDS and, as such, are not
accessible generally to all the participants in the IMDS. We can,
however, give our customers access to the data sheets on request
(mode "propose"). If you would like us to do
this, please send a short e-mail to the following address: bernd.getzie@bayerbms.com
We
need the following details: Product name e.g.
Bayfol® Product grade e.g. DF-A Color e.g.
900296 (standard black) or 000000 (natural)
We also need your IMDS company ID under
which access to the data sheet will be granted and, if desired as
an entry, its internal material or article
number.
